The name of this beer is appealing -- "Hop Fragrance Beer" -- but sadly it doesn't live up to it's name. It neither seems to smell nor taste particularly of hops (of any sort).
The appearance is just average -- greenish gold, with little head (at least it's not pale straw colored!).
Despite the name, the smell is very non-distinct: it smells like "average beer." The taste is no more appealing, basically kind of blah, with a weird vegetal character (like the water you get after boiling broccoli), a slight bitterness, but no obvious hop character, or even much character of any sort. I don't think it should be a matter of freshness -- this is a Japanese beer, and I bought it in Japan from a store with pretty high throughput, which I'm pretty sure hasn't had it for more than a few weeks.
It's not actively horrible, but it's just not very appealing to drink.
Kinshachi is an odd brewery; they have some hits -- really nice and quirky beers like their Red Miso Lager -- but sadly quite a few misses as well... of which this seems to be one.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
