ESRUM KLOSTER JULEØL was voted hand brewer beer of the year at the Esrum Kloster beer festival 2022, and the first prize at this competition is to have a whole brew brewed at Bryggeriet Skands.
The hobby brewer behind it is Hans Jørgen Hoppe who has 'Hoppe's garage brew'. Together with our brewmaster Kennet, the recipe is adapted to a full brew that is bottled at the beginning of November.
ESRUM KLOSTER JULEÖL is a strong and flavorful double bock with just the right balance between the sweetness of the malt and the bitterness of the hops.
A perfect Christmas beer for the roast duck, the Christmas lunch table or the dark winter evenings.

Copenhagen 24/2 2025. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Vermlandsgade, Kbh. S. Light blue label with a little statue lounging in the snow.
Pours clear Mahogany with a small off-white head. Stable. Settles as paper thin patch of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, slightly sugary, malty odor mi going with an alcohol. Sweet caramel, toffee and toasted bread. Sweet Biscuits. Sweet alcohol. Liqeur-ish. Whiff of bitter sour grains.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairy intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and a little harsh. Lingers for a while. Finish is dry with a light touch of alcohol.
Should ensure a boozy and bitter Christmas.
