Copenhagen 4/2 2019. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Rødovre Centrum. Another feature in Skands series of Historical Beers made in collaboration with the National Museum of Denmark. This one seems to hail from medieval times and to be brewed under the German Reinheitsgebot traditions.
Pours murky, dirty amber with lots of sediments floating around. Small white head. Settles as thin flimsy layer of foam. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense and sweetish. Caramel, sweet lemonade, straws. Grassy notes of hops.
Light carbonation. Soft, oily, slightly thick texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a moderately stronger bitterness. A little bit rough around edges. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a bit.
When look at it I could mistake it for a beer from the Middle Ages - but the taste and aroma is a bit too civilized for that to be true.
