Bottle shared by Alex at Bir & Fud in Rome.

Pours black with a half-finger tan head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on tap leaving solid lacing.

Smells incredible - heavy roasted malts, semi-sweet chocolate, molasses, and tobacco aromas all work in concert. Also prevalent are good amounts of vanilla and lighter amounts of whiskey that tail off a bit as the beer warms.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Robust roasted malt flavors with dark chocolate undertones kick things off. Hints of molasses and larger amounts of boozy dark fruit - raisins and plums - join in shortly thereafter. Midway through the sip good amounts of tobacco flavors come into play with lighter amounts of vanilla and boozy whiskey, tempering the sweetness from the fruit flavors. The tobacco flavors dominate through to the mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a very nice thickness with smooth carbonation.

Drinkability is great. I finished my glass very quickly and could drink this all night trying to decipher everything going on.

Overall this is one of the most well-balanced big beers I can remember having. A superb beer that's well worth a shot if you can get your hands on it and big thanks to Alex for opening it up.
