Bottle from the brewery brought back by my parents on their trip to Prince Edward County. Label upside down.

A - Pours root beer brown. Bright. Sort of an amber colour. Fluffy beige head of one full finger. Good carbonation.Good retnetion with a half finger, and a little chunk of lacing.

S - Nice. Coffee, roasted malts, dark bread, a little chocolate and a good amount of nuttiness.

T - More coffee and toffee, chocolate and a little nuttiness.

M - Good carbonation, mild but nice. Medium to light body, but still seems a little thin.

O/D - I honestly wasn't expecting much from this at all, but it suprised me alot, a quality dark, light bodied ale, very moorish.

I tried this beer on tap on May 5, 2011 at "C'est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a clear dark copper colour with a this off-white head. The aroma was roasted malt, nuts, and mild caramel. Rhe mouthfeel was mediuym bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt, coffee, and nuts. I found it quite refreshing as it went down very easy.

Poured out brown with a ruby hue. A large tan head pops up but disappears quickly to almost nothing. The nose is sweet and toasty. Some chocolate or dark roasted malts. The flavor reflects the aroma with a bite of dark roasted malts and some bakers chocolate. The body is light and sweet at the same time. After the bite of dark malts there is a light sweet middle. The finish is crisp but all flavor is gone.

I thought for sure when I tasted it, that Wind and Sail would be classified as an English Brown, not an Irish Red. Grabbed a six produced less than 10 days from when I got it.

There definitely is a red tinge to the cola brown colour of this beer. A decent tan head left some lacing and a long-lasting collar.

Smells like fresh grains roasted wild nuts, dark chocolate and also carries some nice dark fruit notes. Raspberry, cherry and even dates.

Has a roasted chocolate malt flavour with a nice bitterness that's balanced by a honey-like sweetness. Buttery notes come through as the beer leaves the back of my tongue, which is appetizing.

The mouthfeel is unfortunately thin and doesn't back up the thick taste with enough body, especially upfront.

For my taste this is an above-average dark ale, though it may be a bit too heavy on the malts to session. Will try another six for sure.

My first brew from Barley Days, one of the few breweries east of the GTA and south of Ottawa.

Poured into a nonic ale glass. Dark brown in colour, with ruby shining through when held to the light. Thin, but persistent head, good lacing. Doesn't look bad.

Caramel, hops, sourness to the nose.

Not bad, actually. Nothing spectacular, but drinkable. Malty, with a bit of rye bread, chocolate and caramel to the taste. Yeast is quite sour, gets more substantial as the pint progresses. Vegetable hop taste. Tart, dry to the finish.

Thin, a bit syrupy, but decent carbonation.

Actually, I didn't mind this. Not something I'd like a lot of, but still, wasn't bad. I'd pick it up again on tap to compare. Seems, though, to be a brew that is substantially touch-and-go. Either it's good or it ain't.

A: Clear deep amber with small head that fades to lacing.

S: Faint caramel and slight fruity sweetness. expected more.

T: Sort of a mild fruity taste with a light bitter finish.

Bottle from the brewery, into a Stella glass.

A: Surprisingly nice looking beer. very deep ruby read with delicate whispy head with good retention. (4.0)

S: A little wet cardboard what what I first smelled. Otherwise not to bad. roasted malts, dark cherries. (3.0)

T: oaky smoke and roasted malts. not too bad, finish is a little weak and cardboardy. a little sulfuric as well. actually tastes more burnt than roasted. (3.0)

M: Body is a little weak. alkaline. nice and smooth carbonation however. fairly natural feeling. (3.5)

D: Meh. barely sessionable. (3.0)
