I love Mr. Vacarro's beers, let me just say this right now. Perhaps experiencing his excellence through the years makes me expect a bit more.

Pours a beautiful clear dark straw/ white gold, with a huge white head that threatens to fly from the glass, but is so thick it just overtops it and keeps together, defying gravity. Spots and legs of oily lace slither slowly on the inner surface.

Nice aroma, minus points for weak in the late addition/dry hops, bonus points for how delectable an aroma it is.. Really floral, neutral sweet, lacking in the thicker hop notes, and definite sense of alcohol heat in there too, not really in a good way.

Well, the flavor is quite bright, but here again it is the alcohol presence, a raw heat that doesn't play well with others here, that keeps this from being the stunningly delicious beer it threatens to be with a bit of a different treatment. Nice balance of pine, floral, and bitter pith, but it ends with alcohol detracting from a finish that would be dry and clean.

Very viscous, too carb.'ed/carbonic, a finish that is good, but could be better with less resiny buildup.

I am certain there are folks who love the harsh burn this beer provides, with an alcohol and bitter hop bomb in the finish, but this hop head gotta say they needed to treat these hops better, the hops deserved better than this, Capt. is capable of better than this.

Golden color. Medium-sized, white head. The aroma of honey , apricots, pine and citrus . Sweet, malty beginning perfectly balanced by hops . Full body, didn't notice any alcohol.

Tried this at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, CT. Came in a tulip glass with about a half inch of head leaving behind clumps of lacing. The color is golden coppery. The aroma is almost nonexistent. The flavor is dank and floral with herbaceous notes. Nice triple.

A: This poured an opaque gold with moderate white head.
S: It smelled like orange and grapefruit, with some green mango and resin and sugary malt.
T: It tasted like juicy citrus and sweet sugary malt, with some bitter resin. It had a clean bitter aftertaste with some alcohol warming.
M: It was thick with moderate carbonation. Great big body.
D: This was a great IPA with basic but delicious scent and taste. The body was solid, but the finish was hot, so it was better to sip. Nothing unique or amazing, but I thoroughly enjoyed this beer.

Bottled on 3/20/17.

A - Pours an orange copper color with minimal soapy white lacing.

S - Honey malt and booze with light caramel aroma and pine.

T - Caramel sweetness up front, piney bitterness on the back end, and an obnoxious level of booziness. Lots of alcohol effervescence.

M - Medium body with a very dry finish.

O - Will try another bottle that isn't five months old and revisit this review.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. bottled 3/20/17, so 3 1/2 months old.

Very cloudy apricot/peach colored body. Nice white head with very good lacing.

there is a faint aroma, but i found it difficult to put my finger on what it was. possibly malt?

Well, the label says its a triple IPA, but the hops must have faded a fair amount after 3 1/2 months in the bottle. There is still some bite, but sweet malt is the primary flavor.

Close to full on the mouth, a sweet wash on the finish with a slightly sour bitterness on the back of the tongue.

Overall, a faded drink, not unpleasant in any way, and still drinkable. But its clearly an DIPA where 3 1/2 months past it's bottling date is way too long, even considering the label touting its hopbombiness (Like that word?)
