"Chocolate, cherry stout. Brewed with a Belgian yeast"
A few samples a the brewery and now reviewed from a 32 ounce growler filled at said brewery just about 4 hours ago...fresh and local...
Pours very dark, approaching black. Mocha head, frothy, sturdy and leaving more then ample high and ringed sheeting and stick of all shapes and sorts. Nice looking beer.
Chocolate comes through on the nose, with a hint of cherry.
Smooth, easy drinking and medium bodied. More chocolate, moderately sweet. Cherry character certainly muted at best. Dark grains adding some roasty notes.
Hops drying things out quite a bit in the finish.
Highly enjoyable porter. Flavorful based mostly on the chocolate note. I'd prefer a more prominent cherry note to put this one truly over the top.
