Pilot Batch # 89
"A deep and dark stout that will unfold as it warms in your hand. Great with chocolate, raspberries, or a campfire."
1/2 growler filled at the brewery a few hours ago.
Pours very dark, near black, moderate medium mocha head, leaves a very fine film and whispy fields of fine lace.
Dense and muddy chocolate on the nose.
Rich and chewy stout with much more chocolate character and dark malt goodness.
Enjoyable sipper. I need a piece of chocolate cake. (just a small one)

A dark brown almost black liquid with a light brownish khaki head. Opaque so you can't ser what's going on in the glass. It stays covered all the way down the glass, leaving good lacing. Deep rich chocolate and coffee like a mocha shake. Roasty grains and light molasses. I'm loving every sniff, it's just a little faint for my tastes otherwise it would be even higher score wise. Taste is almost off the chart good. Chocolate undercurrent flows through a topping of roasted barley. Notes of molasses and 80 percent cacao. A lack of fruitiness with a clean and dry finish that speaks American ale yeast leaving room for a lovely delicate and wide hoppiness in the finish. Feel is mildly carbonated giving a silky smoothness and excellent quaffability. Just outstanding. Scott, you should make this the standard CL stout. It's one of the best I've had.
