375 ml corked & caged bottle, as Captain Lawrence Hudson Valley Harvest Sour Cherry. The cherry variety is Montmorency. Will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Muddy pink colour, no head, minimal carbonation. Aroma of farmhouse, oak and sour cherries. Sour and tart flavour, notes of sour cherries, oak and lemons, astringent finish.

375ml corked and caged bottle into a Surly teku. Shared with schen9303.
I uncork this and there's not so much as a whisper. Completely flat. Color is nice enough but it might as well be looking at cherry juice. Nose is cherry, cinnamon and yumberry. Light tartness that tickles the nose but not much else. Beer opens tart cherry with a light touch of oak and a boatload of butter. Accented yeast bite throughout. This beer's not ready. Feel is light bodied with no carbonation. Slick and oily in the mouth and goes down prickly from the tartness and yeast.
When I buy a sour that's over $15 a bottle, I don't expect it to be good... but I do expect it to be ready... and ready this is not. There's no carbonation and there's a ton of diacetyl that needs to be cleaned up. A huge disappointment and unfortunately, indicative of the direction that Captain Lawrence has been heading in the past couple of years. When you see this on the shelf, pass on it.
