A combination of a traditional German gose with the infusion of passion fruit and guava to tie it all together. The gose is tart, tangy, and a bit salty. So we added some fruits to round it all out and add some sweetness and balance.

L: Hazy Gold w/ a finger of white bubbly lacing which dissipates quickly.
S: Wheaty, some guava, a little passionfruit.
T: The fruit flavor is quite low key, almost no tartness. Fairly salty. Refreshing, dry finish. Not at all what I expected, but the label does say, "traditional gose." The few German goses I have had were quite light on the tartness, almost non-existent.
F: Medium to light body, moderately carbonated.
O: It took the whole can to get used to. None of the tartness or the strong fruit flavors that one expects from today's goses. Still, it was a nice pick up.

I expected more from Captain Lawrence honestly, this one was a major miss for me, and I love gose/sour beers. 16oz tall boy poured into a Muffintop Vintage wide mouth glass for aromatics .
L: Very pale yellow with a slight haze. Small head that fades quickly but with slight retention. Solid presentation for a Gose.
S: Smells delightful with rich passionfruit and guava notes, as well as some significant wheaty presence.
T: Does not follow the nose at all. Very muted guava and passionfruit flavors, but they are at least slightly present. Almost no salty or sour flavors that you'd expect from a Gose. Finishes with an overdose of wheat flavor.
F: Slightly prickly upfront, coats the tongue and fades quickly. Dry finish.
O: This one really fell flat for me. I was hoping for the taste to follow the nose but it did not in the slightest. If there was more fruit flavor present, I'd simply call this a misnomer in the style department and file it away as a tasty and fruity wheat beer. However, the fruit flavors are extremely muted and the defining qualities of a Gose are also not present. For what it's worth, this beer isn't awful and is definitely sessionable and a decent fit for summer, but to call it a Gose is a massive stretch for me. Would not purchase again but won't be discarding the remaining cans either.

Not as sour as I would have expected for a passionfruit gose. Slightly salty with tropical fruit notes and a nice wheatiness. A decent beer that tastes a little too much like fruit punch.
