An American IPA that blurs the lines of the IPA’s I grew up on and the beers that have grown out of the hop varieties of today. A big 7% abv IPA, loaded with Mosaic and Citra hops, packaged in an unfiltered, unadulterated and raw state.

16 oz. can. Hazy orange. Smells of citrus, light tropical fruit, garlic, and some slight dank notes. Tastes of acidic hops up front, followed by a hint of sweet tropical fruit, earthy and dank flavors, and some Citra hop earthiness. Slightly sweet. Medium body. It's tasty, but it's a bit of a throat-burner.

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a hazy golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, tropical fruits. Taste is citrus, pineapple, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Golden hazy amber color.
Scent was missing. Thought I had another beer from the same brewery a few days ago, and that was outstanding. This was just good.
Missing a nose of fruit

Canned on 05-04-21.

A - Opaque medium yellow gold with thick creamy off-white colored lacing.

S - Citrus, pineapple, and overall very weak on the aroma.

T - Citrus, pineapple, light spicy pineapple rind and finishes on the sweeter side with a little bit of lupulin burn.

M - Thick, chewy, silky soft.

O - Tastes way better than it smells, the nose is almost 'nill.

A: Poured from the can into a Tree House tulip. Body is hazy dark (but bright) yellow. Small bubbly white head on top.

S: Good nose of pineapple, tropical fruit and lemons.

T: Follows the nose, with tropical fruit - pineapple, melon, papaya - and some citrus (grapefruit peel, lemon). Good and juicy - a little on the sweet side, but for a DIPA, that's not surprising. Heat felt in the belly.

M: Medium to full in heft, juicy in feel. A bit chalky at times, I thought.

O: Very good.

Large can, w/ canned on dating...FRESH, canned about 10 days ago...

Pours heavily hazed lighter amber, frothy and fine bubble head, leaving loads of whispy and fine sheeting all over the glass

Tropical fruit hopped up nose, with pineapple, oranges and lemon/lime coming to mind.

Super tasty, fresh and fragrant, hopped up and tropical fruited up flavor bomb...well done Capt L....well worth a try...go get some

16oz. can into a Surly teku.

Unfiltered but this one is pretty crystal clear. Nose is pine, grass, citrus, cane sugar and pineapple. There's some tropical fruit notes in here but the dank hop presence is what's most noticeable. Beer is juicy upfront. Hints of pineapple and orange. But then, just like the nose the resiny, hop bitterness takes over. Grass, pine and bark with an aggressive hop bite at the end. Solid. Feel is light and foamy with good carbonation. Prickly going down.

Captain Lawrence is a little late to the New England IPA style that's all the rage these days and while this is a solid interpretation of the style, NE IPA to me isn't about balance. Its about being a juice bomb through and through... and this beer is not that.
