Hot on the heels of technology in brewing, Captain Lawrence taps into lupulin powders from both Mosaic and Citra hops for New England IPA flavor that's the stuff of dreams.

Pale goldenrod in color and glossed with a pastel opaqueness, their Double Dry Hopped Mosaic and Citra version of Powdered Dreams builds a voluminous and heady froth that carries a host of citrus, berry, tea and tropical fruit across the nose. A delicate pastry sweetness greets the tongue first with nuances of honey, cereal and spongecake in a semi-rich malty display.

But the stars of the show are the tandem of hops that blossom on the middle palate. Leading with tangerine, a bright citrusy taste of oranges and red grapefruit. But then a quick followup of lime quickly turns tropical with passionfruit, mango and papaya. Green berries, kiwi and yuzu flavors then turn peppery and moderately bitter on the late palate as a brisk taste of black tea, verbena and sassafras arise.

Medium full in body, the beer's resinous bitterness and a crisper malt profile aid with the beer's refreshment and prevents the ale from lingering unnecessarily sweet, creamy or weighted. A medium long aftertaste of fresh spruce, grass, hemp and hay signal the beer's closure and a hoppy taste done well.

The head is huge, thick, and rocky with a good level of retention and scads of lacing all up and down my glass. Chunks sit on top and cling like insulation foam. The brew itself is turbid and full of chunks that are rising ad falling. It looks like it is still fermenting and I love it. cloudy in the extreme, it still manages to look appetizing due to a light golden hue reminiscent of a hyper cloudy wit.

Nose is chock full of citrus, yeasty and dough. Strangely enough there is a faint bit ion bubblegum riding along the notes of melon, pineapple and guava. A bit of peppery bit from the alcohol.

Taste a followup to the nose with a simcoe powder bite that is no joke. The mosaic brings a lot of the tropics with a huge grapefruit from the lupin powder. Light malt sweetness with some tangerine mixed on top of the tropical mix. Clean finish leaves an astringent bit of hops and then poof! Gone. Just a watering mouth.

The feel is rich and velvety as if there are oats in the mash.Carbonation is crisp and tingly with a healthy effervescence at first. The weight is heavier than usual while remaining super quaffable. I love it.

A great NE style IPA. I hope it returns and in the meantime I'm off to get some more!
