Served on tap at the Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford, New York.
A: Pours a crystal clear, dark amber/copper color with a one inch, off white head, low retention, but solid rings of lacing.
S: Pungent initially. Aromas of caramel, toast, citrus (grapefruit more than orange), and spices.
T: Semidry. Flavors largely follow the nose. Malt predominates though with bitterness perhaps a bit stronger than one would expect in a märzen.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Fairly smooth, not quite as crisp as appropriate to the style.
O: Drinkable and enjoyable.

A: Brilliantly clear dark orange-amber.
S: Noble hop spicing, chamomile, apricot, light orange and grapefruit, pepper, and nutmeg. Well toasted bread.
M: Smooth and creamy feel, med body. Not really any hints of dryness nor the insinuation of decadence.
T: Floral, fruity, and spice combine for a slightly bitter, malt forward brew with even some hop flavor tendencies. Loads of biscuit and honey, hints of chocolate malt. Orange peel and cinnamon spice, lemongrass, red grapefruit juice--in the form of marmalade--give it rustic hoppiness.

"A malty, rich copper ale brewed with Munich, chocolate, and melanoidin malts. Lightly hopped with Crystal, Cascade and Simcoe"
Enjoyed on tap at the brewery and now reviewed from a 1/2 growler at home.
Pours near clear, darker copper, nice looking fine lacing left in sheets all over the glass.
Malted up and pungent nose, with honey/vanilla/nutty notes coming forward.
Smooth and tasty, malty, complex and quite delicious. More honey, more vanilla, more nuttyness, light smoke...Quality O'Fest brew....would go great in a marinade for chicken or pork or whatever
Nice fall creation from the Good Captain...go get some
