Kind of a weird soapy aroma, but generally a decent drink. Mild breakfast coffee flavor comes through well enough. Maybe not quite worth $6/16, but good for what will likely be a one-off for me.

Picked up a 16 oz single can from TW-Greenville, SC 11-16-21 for $5.99. Canned 10-5-21; consumed 3-27-22. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured midnight black with a beautiful tan head that has some great hang time.
Nose has notes of medium roasted malts and espresso.
Taste is really well balanced with the medium roasted malt base accented nicely by a light touch of espresso and lactose. Hopping and espresso addition balances the large malt base and lactose, very nicely done.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall a really nice job by the CLBC team, would have again!

This is an amazing stout!!!! An Imperial Stout with a basis in Milk/Sweet Stouts and Oatmeal Stouts!!!! Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass. Dense black color with a big dark tan/brown foamy head (huge head for a 10.50% abv beer). Head retention is excellent, the head slowly fades to a covering on the glass. There are patchy, thick scattered pieces of lacing on the glass. Aroma and taste feature sweet malt, lactose and coffee. Both area very pleasant, the taste is very inviting. Mouthfeel is very impressive. Between the oatmeal and lactose, this beer is super smooth and rich. As you keep sipping, there is a hint of the alcohol once in a while. Mostly it is a smooth, very rich sweet stout.. It is best to respect the 10.50% abv. You wouldn't be tempted to chug it down quickly because it is rich, but you might be tempted to reach for a second one!!!!!

From the 16 fl. oz. can dated 10/05/2021. Sampled Nov. 27, 2021.
The appearance is just about jet black...like coffee...under a modest, lasting tan head.
The aroma boasts coffee, espresso, coffee grinds galore with a lower sweet and oat malt presence.
Medium, smooth mouthfeel.
Sweet taste at first but then the coffee and espresso characters really rip right into it all right up to the bitter end. They promised espresso and coffee and that promise was true. I bet tis one keeps me up late tonight.

Looks: Dark chocolate brown color, sandy brown head that melts to wispy foam clouds with a ring around the edge. Foam lace is well planted on the sides.
Smell and Taste: Espresso is the dominate tone along with the lactose sugar sweetness.
Feel: Somewhat thin for an Imperial Stout. Nice level of carbonation.
Overall: An easy drinker, well balanced. I might need to have another.

Pours dark brown with a thin mocha head and good glass lacing. Smells like oats and espresso. Taste follows the nose. Heavy in the flaked oats and espresso. A bit of chocolate and char. A sweetness from the milk sugar. Overall has an interesting flavor that I’ve never experienced before.

16oz can.
Pours opaque dark brown with a thin, tan head. Moderate retention and lacing. Pungent coffee in the nose with bakers chocolate and char. Full bodied with velvety mouthfeel. Rich espresso with dark chocolate and roast on the palate. Finishes dry with lingering espresso and chocolate.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges and faint dark cola brown + dark chestnut brown + ruby red colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense creamy sudsy foamy dark tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering approximately 95% of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of freshly brewed dark roasted coffee over the top of moderate aromas of slightly burnt/charred + roasted + dark + caramel + chocolate malts with a moderate amount of lactose sweetness.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of slightly burnt/charred + roasted + dark + caramel + chocolate malts with a moderate amount of lactose sweetness as well as hints of oat malts contributing to the smoothness of the beer. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors freshly brewed dark roasted coffee. There are slightly stronger than moderate amounts of roasty bitterness which are cut by the lactose sweetness and moderate lingering coffee flavors.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly smooth mouthfeel. Very enjoyable (especially for this coffee lover) - lots of bold coffee flavors + aromas.

Pint can, set out for 30 minutes to get to temperature, poured into my oversized Dogfish Head Alehouse snifter.
Little bit of light brown head dissipates slowly.
Starbucks aroma, coffee smack in the nostrils. Lightly oily in the glass. No lacing to speak of.
First taste felt ‘common’ - we’ve all had this before. The coffee, chocolate, dark sugar and slight char identified themselves as the glass warmed a bit more. Sweet without being syrupy. Mouth feel matches the nose - there’s no ‘surprise!’ to it, but the quality of the espresso is bold and welcomed.
Overall, if comparing to other adjunct stouts, it’s not a KBS Espresso. There’s no ‘bite of booze’ that I prefer in a coffee stout, but that’s just me. It’s a sipper, yet I didn’t feel the urge to light a cigar and create a mood.

The brew presents opaquely dark from the wan, with a wisp if tan foam that dissipates quickly.
The aroma is light with coffee and sugar notes.
The flavor is rich with espresso, toasted malts and a burnt sugar sweetness. There is some coffee bitterness.
The finish is slick and smooth.
-a flavorful slow sipper

This is a winner for me, and a welcome offering from Cap'n Lawrence! Canned 12/15/202, consumed 1/15/21 - thanks to my local monger for getting it to Philly in a hurry.
L: From the can. Label is old school. Fine by me.
S: enticing if a bit subdued. coffee. bit of sweet and a touch of bitterness
T: delivers well. strong coffee. bit of sweetness. satisfying bitter finish. Nice!
F: smooth. a bit more carbonation would be welcome but ok, i'm quibbling.
O: Works for me in a big way - good job Cap!
