Pours a cloudy gold with a frothy white foam head; good cap retention; heavy lace turns sudsy. Dank skunky onion weedy pineapple lemongrass grass nose. Taste follows tongue; medium lite body; almost watery; moderate carbonation; mild hop burn. Overall, a lightly bittered unfiltered IPA that while drinkable from a mouthfeel standpoint, is taste wise exactly what I don’t want to drink, and couldn’t drink two in a row; not an enjoyable drinking experience for me.

On tap at Lures Bar & Grille. For whatever reason, Captain Lawrence beers seem to be very hit-or-miss for me and unfortunately this one was a huge swing and a miss. There is some decent hop flavor but otherwise it comes across as extremely boozy (at just 7.5%?!) with a sharp metallic flavor. Not good.

'bout a month old but the Powder Dreams series tends towards being a little bit green when super-fresh anyhow, so let's hope this 5/13/19 can holds up. Liking the more old-school idea behind this one, though I'm also mostly interested in how Amarillo's lupulin powder form differs from its normal form. I had a great hazy IPA from Great North that featured Amarillo pretty prominently, so I'm kind of refreshed on what to look for from it!

Pours an opaque medium-orange color with some golden highlights if held to direct light. Thin but unwavering head with decent legs. Not much lace here, but it's not too bad a looker overall. Just a really dense and inert appearance.

The nose is doughy and herbal, yeasty and a little spicy with some light notes of clove, florals, citrus peel, and pine around the edges. Interesting... I really have to get in the glass to pick up the majority of what's happening here, but it's fairly rewarding, for what it's worth. Doesn't have any of the cattiness of Citra, but some suggestions of papaya flesh and underripe mango are present for sure. Slight sniff of ethanol, biscuity malt and more spice underlying. Looks like Amarillo's intense citrus elements become a bit greener/grassier with the Cryo/lupulin powder form. That's what it seems like, anyway.

The flavor profile is nice and well-rounded, with notes ranging from gooseberry to grapefruit and bright tangerine. Some light floral and herbal elements kicking around aren't lost on me at all either. Definitely still has a yeasty/doughy complexion to it as is evident by its thick and palate-coating feel that leaves me feeling satiated after half a glass. Still, though, this is a fun little sip, and has some unique stuff going for it. I'm impressed by how the Citra and Amarillo work together, and this never really becomes "juicy" whatsoever... it's just kind of green and grassy with a solid dankness to it. Like I've mentioned a few times, the subtle floral elements and spice are a big diversion from what's currently popular, so if you like hops like Loral and Ella, you'll probably be a big fan of this one. I think it's pretty good, but not my favorite NEIPA from Cpt. Lawrence recently.

I don't think Amarillo are my favorite hops, but I am enjoying this series and I got these fresh as hell, so here goes.

I get onion grass and lemonade in the nose, both fresh and pungent. Taste is similar, with low bitterness lemons being more prominent.

Nice change of pace from the tropical fruit baskets I have been enjoying lately.
