Picked this up a few weeks back at Gary's in Wayne as I hadn't had a beer from Captain Lawrence in quite some time. This looked like something worth taking a chance on and it was worth the buy as it easily went down and had more than enough going for it, down to the nice selection of hops that worked well together!
The pour to this was pretty typical for something of this style as it was golden, muted, and a bit waxy in hue. Enough head topped it off but once it settled, only a faint and thin ring remained near the top of my pint glass. Lots of mango, overripe tropical fruit, exotic hops, and earthy hops in the faint nose as they emerged more in the taste. Quite a bit of burn to this, as smooth as it was, as the aftertaste could be felt for a while in my throat. Dank like fruit cocktail with pineapple, outdoorsy weed, and an underlying metallic bitterness, this was a bit of a contradiction as it had a West Coast feel while being more of a beer from this neck of the woods.
Enough booze was in this along with a piney aftertaste that was heavy and musky as a light slickness lingered on my palate after the last sip went down. This warmed me up nicely as the carbonation was light, which ensured that this would taste and feel as heavy as a New England IPA could be. Canned on 3/6, this held up well over the last five months as there wasn't any sediment or skunky feel to it. This was enjoyable and had me wanting the rest of the iterations of this series!

16 ounces, caned 3 06 2020....about 5 weeks ago.
Nice looking fully hazed up NEIPA look, minor cap..
Soft, fruity nose with melons and mango coming to mind.
Delicious creation from the Captain, more dense fruity notes, stone fruit, mango, and light pineapple all shining through...smooth and inviting...high quality and well worth a try.
