All around nice west coast DIPA. Most west coast DIPAs do not have the bitter bite the a true west coast is supposed to have, but this is one of the few exceptions.

Good West Coast IPA!!! Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass, this beer features a clear gold color and a medium sized frothy white head that fades to a smaller foamy one. There are thick, wide rings of lacing on the glass. Fairly "civilized" West Coast IPA aroma and flavor. This beer is resiny, piney and fairly hoppy but not a hop bomb "head shrinker". The flavor is robust and there is some balancing bready malt to go along with the hops. My can was dated 04/20/23 and the .abv is different that the older reviews here. This beer now weighs in at 9.1% .abv and is probably a bit hoppier than the version that was previously reviewed, Mouthfeel is crisp, resiny and moderately bitter. Alcohol presence is a not a factor. I liked this one!!!

Crisp, light West Coast Double IPA. Very drinkable, not bitter, not exceptional. I prefer a more hops forward west coast style.

Poured a seethru light-gold body with decent head and dirty hop aroma. Smooth, light, crisp, a little veggie-like bitterness in the hops to make it slightly off at times. Decent balance with light maltiness and easy to finish. Overall, not a bad beer but not something that I'd go back to again.

Poured from a 16oz can, (canned 01/10/2022), into a pint glass an opaque golden straw color with finger high head, visible & fizzy carbonation that leaves slight lacing but doesn't last too long, (probably from age). Smell is lightly hoppy with biscuit and malt undertones, but generally quite tame. Taste is smooth up front with a round middle and slightly dry and bitter finish. Medium bodied that leave a descent but not overpowering amount of bitterness. Received in a trade for some Cricket Hill Fractal Haze Mosaic IPA and believe I did pretty good with this brew having a bit higher APV & complexity.

A: Pours a clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate medium golden yellow + medium yellow + burnt orange + orange + amber + peach + apricot colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of very slightly mottled very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith + citrus/grapefruit zest + citrus/grapefruit + herbal + pine + dank resinous hops over the top of moderate aromas of biscuit + toasted + caramel malts with moderate amounts of caramel sweetness.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of biscuit + toasted + caramel malts with moderate amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of citrus/grapefruit pith + citrus/grapefruit zest + citrus/grapefruit + herbal + pine + dank resinous hops which impart moderate amounts of lingering bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront with a light amount of dryness in the finish.
O: Drinks pretty easily with well hidden alcohol and a pleasant crispness + dryness in the mouthfeel. Enjoyable with lots of citrus + herbal + pine + dank resinous hops and not a lot of sweetness. Nice amounts of lingering bitterness.

Can canned 12/27/21 into pint glass. Hmmm..almost 5 months old. Pours a clear light gold with a nice off-white head. Good lacing. Initial impression is pine, citrus, and a bit of earthiness. Mouthfeel is clean and sharp. Finish is somewhat bitter, but with a definite biscuit and cracker malt undertone. Overall, a pretty decent old school West Coast DIPA. I'd be interested in trying a fresher sample, though.

On the light side for a WC imperial. But nice, light bitter bite.

This certainly doesn't start off well, when a pint can with a slightly below room temperature is emptied into a clear glass liter mug. There's way too much sticky stark white foam for any sort of IPA. The brew is the light and bright amber color of mass produced American lagers. In fact, some of them bring more opaqueness. The ugly starchy white head has receded unevenly and unattractively and finally, the contents of one pint can are now inside the vessel. The aroma is of one note; woodsy and a piney hoppy one. But it's not poignant. Once again, fears that this is another AIPA that shortchanged barley in the wort by overusing wheat and oats are brought to mind. So, it's time to get through the sticky mess passing as a beer head and taste it. The beer drinks smoothly, if slightly light, but overall, it's tasty. It's just a little flat across the tongue, but that's for the mouthfeel category. Not nearly as biting as many in the Imperial IPA category, especially those that describe themselves as west coast style, this nonetheless provides some of the taste treats within. The hop characteristics are mostly sharp, somewhat piney and sort of resinous, basically all that you'd expect from an Imperial West Coast IPA. This is a truly rare breed that seems to get almost everything else wrong in the categories, except the taste. It looks well below average, smells below average and the mouthfeel isn't much better than mediocre. But, it tastes good within the parameters of the style, actually outside of the parameters of the style, too. It's really not too far from its intended category. For an Imperial IPA, this gets the job done, delivering high "octane", without alerting the taste buds.
