a basic, but tasty and well done example of the style, nothing about it really stands out, but its well within the parameters of the style in all counts, and drinks easy and simple, nice fall session beer, a little lower on the alcohol than a lot of them i have seen in the state this year, and i like that. the malt flavor might be a little lighter than some, but its still got its nutty and caramelized elements, still tastes earthy and autumnal to me, and has all the european authenticity i like on the malt side. the lager yeast is also a little mellow in the flavor, but it still comes across as classically german, and the beer is dry and clean in the finish, just simple ingredients here put together well by someone who knows how to make a lager. it was getting chilly when we were in, and it was nice to sip this in front of their fireplace at the brewery, really set the mood. not as hearty as some, but the flavors are right. another nicely made beer from these guys, who dont seem to ever get the credit they deserve down in boise...
