I bought a bottle of Pure Bred Citra in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pint glass.
Pours a rich copper color, clear, with a modest but sticky head.
Smell is very piney.
Taste is a little more balanced than the scent. Some malt flavors up front, with some citrus notes and a bitter pine finish.
Mouthfeel is clean but very dry.
Overall a nice pale ale. I make it more of an IPA and the use of the Citra hops are trendy but unusual.

My favorite single hop yet, pairs great with those citrusy notes

Beer was roughly 75 days old. Gorgeous golden color with a persistent white head to match. Citrus and dank floral notes throughout the aroma. Tastes heavily of caramel and biscuit from malt, while the flavor is quality the residual sugar and body is bit heavy. Possibly a good deal of hops faded over those 75 days...Quality Citra flavor here for those seeking. Drink fresh.

Beer pours a clear amber color with a white head that leaves some residual lacing. Nose leans more towards the piney side, which is surprising for a Citra hop beer. Taste is much the same, piney with a bitter finish. Decent beer but not what I expected

Slightly hazy amber beer with creamy head, thick lacing. Citrus/pine aroma, hops more subdued in flavor as dry malt comes into play. Finish is abrupt and dry. Smooth drinker.

Had a Double Mtn Cluster hour before this, improptu single-hop night. Anyways....Another good single-hop (SH) beer tonight that comes up a bit better than expectations. Don't usually find SH all that great, nor bad. From the start it looks great with a great golden color and nice bit of head on top. Nice to have this SH idea in a pale rather than an IPA like they usually are. I think this may be a better way to do a SH beer as a pale to use the malt to really buoy and support the flavor of the hop in this one. Quite tasty and finishes smooth.

Fresh 22oz. bomber bottle poured into a snifter tasting glass.
A= Pale side of copper/orange, thick foamy head that settles to ring the glass.
S= Bit of citrus and a hint of toasted or biscuit malts.
T= Something floral, some biscuit/bready quality. Some citrus but not a lot, slight bitterness to the finish.
M=Light side of medium body with moderate carbonation.
O= Easy to drink APA, would prefer a bit more aroma and flavor for a Citra single hopped offering, has a sweetness and floral character that is different, but not off-putting.

As it poured out it had very little head, almost nothing. It hardly had any aroma, and the taste was bitter as I expected, but there was nary a hint of any citrus or any other taste, just a bitter liquid. Boring.

Handsome orange-amber color with a nice pile of foam that clings to the Stella Artois goblet. Rich and rather sweet and winey. Pleasantly sudsy mouthfeel, but hot and oily seeming. Aftertaste seems both hot and bitter.
The hops are very citrusy and quite intense. This is maybe too much of a good thing, hop-wise, but you'll get an idea of the Citra flavor, just a little overamped. Lime peel, avocado leaves, and a faint whiff of the cat box. Quite interesting, or at least educational. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Chuck's 85th St. Market in Seattle.
