Careful how you put this beer in the glass. It erupted with a huge brown head when this midnight black brew was poured into the glass. The aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, and licorice. Also present is a grainy aroma. The flavor is chocolate and roasted malts. The flavor begins with a nice balance between the chocolate and roasted and finishes with a pleasant dry roastiness.

As it sets in my Chalice, the color as dark as a moonless night, the head is moderate in size, the texture creamy and the color a light chocolate brown, as the head disappears a thick and sticky sheet of lace forms on the glass. The marvelous aroma of toasted grain and bittersweet chocolate dominate the nose with sweet malt and light coffee underpinning, a nice somewhat sweet and malt laden start leads to a full bodied top, delightful. Finish is mild to moderately acidic, the hops are pertinent to the style and a fine drinking stout it is.

Been eyeing this one for awhile so I final gave in and gave it a shot.. It pours nice and dark with head that dies in a hurr. The smell is almost a sweet charcoal, with some coffee in there. Slight chocolatey taste and some nice smokiness, but unfortunately not very up front taste. Way too watery for a stout. No nice lingering taste or anything like that. Easy to drink, but I'll move on anyway

Pours a dark black color, topped off by a 1/2-inch tan head that fades away quickly leaving minimal lacing. Aromas are of dark chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee. The taste is similar to the aromas, finishing off with the slight bitterness of cocoa. Theres a bit our astringency left in my mouth. There not a great balance between the malt and the other flavors, but its fairly drinkable.

This stout has an extremely sweet nose. That does not excite me too much. The head has a two finger start but fades to one finger. Still a decent head. The first taste is not that great. There is an astringent taste that really took me off gaurd. The bitterness in this beer overpowers the sweet nose but the bitterness is quite unbalanced. There is a burnt taste that overpowers the rest of the malts and hops. The carnbonation is quite heavy and seems to give this beer a strange mouthfeel. As far as drinkability, I probably won't seek this one out again.

Pours a deep black with a small tan head that sinks quickly. The smell is all burnt malts with a slight chocolate sweetness to it. The taste starts and ends with burnt/roasted malts and some bittersweet dark chocolate qualities. There is a nice smoothness to the beer and it is very drinkable. The smell and taste on this one were only a little better than average and the mouthfeel wasn't as creamy as I would like. A good beer anyways, definitely worthy of some nice session drinking.
