Good winter warmer. Malt forward with dark roast flavor but not overly spivey like some winter warmers. Drinkable and enjoyable

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a deep brown color with a one finger head of tan foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is big of a roasted malt smell mixed with a moderately strong aroma of cocoa. A little bit of a vanilla and a lighter earthy and pine hop aroma are there along with a bit of toast as well.
Taste – The taste begins with a roasted malt flavor along with some sweeter caramel and molasses and a rather decent showing of a grapefruit citrus hop taste. As the taste moves forward the grapefruit gains strength and is joined by some other hop flavors of a pine nature. The sweetness fades a bit being replaced by some more roasted malt and cocoa tastes. A little bit of toast and a touch of earthy hop joins the taste at the very end, leaving one with a nice roasty and moderately hopped flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. The blend of carbonation and body was very appropriate as it upheld the hop nicely while not being too thick for the somewhat resinous tastes of the brew.
Overall – A pretty good brew overall with an easy drinking feel and a nice citrus and resinous hop blended into a roasty base.
