Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a quite hazy golden orange color with a one finger head of fizzy white foam. The head fades fast leaving a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass
Smell – The aroma of the brew is light overall with some notes of a bready smell mixed with some grapefruit and some other hop smells of wheat and a little bit of a tropical fruit and pine smell.
Taste – The taste begins with cracker and lightly bready taste with some tropical fruit flavors of mango, tangerine, and papaya right upfront. There is a bit of grapefruit hop and pine upfront with the both growing stronger as the taste moves forward. All the while, some herb and more light fruity tastes of tangerine and apricot join the taste and leave one with a decently dank hopped and easy drinking taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the medium side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a medium level of carbonation. For the mix of flavors the feel is quite nice and creates an easy drinking brew overall.
Overall – A pretty nice and slightly dankly and grapefruit hopped brew. Easy drinking, flavorful, but not too overwhelming.

L: Hazy straw yellow color with a medium white head and a few fingers of lacing.

S: Notes of floral hop, some tropical fruit including orange and pineapple, with a strong cracker malt character underneath.

T: Notes of floral hop, slight bit of tropical fruit, with a strong cracker malt underneath. For being a tropical pale ale, doesn't taste overly tropical.

F: Medium body, creamy carbonation.

O: For being billed as a tropical pale ale this isn't overly tropical.

Umphrey's McGee fans like to party. I know because I have been a huge fan for a long time. I've seen them 6 times! Every UM fan I know loves to party, and their music is outstanding partying music. It's also great music played by very good musicians ("nothing too fancy" is just their humility showing). So a beer to honor them is very appropriate.

It pours deep golden with delicate fizz. The aroma is subdued, clean, and hoppy. The taste is a gentle balance, hoppy but sweet. It is definitely easy drinking. It meets the objective of being extremely sessionable. I will see if they have more at the store mostly because I am such a big fan of the band. If you are not familiar with with band, go to YouTube and check them out. If you aren't sure, try searching for them doing a cover of something you like - their covers are legendary.

Recommended - both the band, Umphrey's McGee, and the ale, Nothing Too Fancy.

Pours a nice foam with lite tan color with gold hazy body. Taste is a slight fruit and hoppy with a slight dry finish to it. It is a very refreshing drinking beer, but not a must have...but should try once.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 oz can on September 22, 2017. A decent interpretation of the style. I would not go out of my way to have another.

Pours a light golden color with a chill haze. Aroma is citrusy and all things hoppy. The taste has lemon citrus elements and finishes to a rind flavor. Solid bitterness yet still refreshing. Light bodied making it super drinkable. This beer has a slight drying hop finish to it too. Pretty solid collaboration beer overall. Good

Pours a finger and half of head on a hazy straw body.
The aroma is mild grain...
The taste is mild lemon bitter with a malty middle.
The texture is medium.
It's fine enough.

this is a collaboration with umphreys mcgee and its just what the name says, nothing too fancy. a well made but quite standard american pale ale here, but a good one, and one i can drink several pints of and not think too much about, which i like these days. there is a little crystal malt going on in here giving it just a little more of a sweet bready flavor, and the hops are more bitter than flavorful, balancing it out really well. i think boulder beer is on point with these basic styles, its when they try to deviate into the creative and inventive sphere that they drop off in quality. this is a really well done pale ale. great carbonation keeps it light despite the bigger grain profile, and it finishes relatively clean for what it is. good in late summer to early fall where a little extra malt seems appropriate. happy to have tried this one, seems like the music industry is really starting to collaborate with breweries too, kind of a neat concept...
