Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a light brick red color with a one finger head of tan foam. The head fades slowly over time to leave a large amount of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of some toasted malts and a good showing of caramel sweetness. Along with these aromas comes some notes of hay and cereal grains as well as some light earthy notes.
Taste – The taste begins with a lightly caramel sweetened toasted malt flavor that has a little bit of bitterness of a nut and light herbal hop taste. As the taste advances some nuttiness comes to the tongue with the sweeter caramel being joined by some light stone fruit flavors. Also toward the end comes a little bit more herb and some hints of grass to leave on with a slightly sweeter and toasty malt taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – For a brew of only 4.7 % abv. the body of the brew is slightly chewier with a carbonation level that is rather average. The overall feel is very nice for the malt and the sweet and makes for a good easy drinking, but flavorful feel.
Overall – A rather nice and easy drinking red with lots of flavor.
