From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter. This interesting little porter
pours a dark brownish black with thin cola highlights and a nice head of khaki foam
that settles to a thick ring, thin light layer, and shows very nice soapy lacing. Nose of
thin after dinner mints (the ones with the dark chocolate and green mint layer in the
restaurants), touches of coffee, and dark roasted malts. Flavors slightly surpass the
nose with dark roasted malts with touches of char and coffee amongst layers of
dark cocoa that is bittersweet, mingling with cola and vanilla notes. Decent mouth
feel; medium full body, light carbonation, and a bitter malt and zesty mint finish that is
bright, yet the body is a touch thin but still solid for the style.
Overall, nice, but would not want a session of this one---more like one at the end
of a night, and then DONE. Unique, and a mint lovers dream.
Cheers
