Orange amber color. Small half-inch head looks minor on a full beer sitting in a 22oz glass. Lacing is actually very intricate. Tightly knit.
Citrusy with hints of pineapple and floral hops. Pine notches as a secondary element. Orange, wheat cracker, and slight kiln aromas; all included.
Big spicy amarillo notes with the roundabout hoppiness of Mojo, slightly amped up behind citrus and tropical fruitiness, pine, and floral notes. Backed up with a booze sting, this IPA is pretty monstrous. Leaning on the DIPA threshold, but with light malt contribution and dry flavor. Has an aggression on the tongue that is practically appropriate for the style. Spiciness dies a bit near the finish, especially as it warms. Comes off leafy and fresh with a bust-out from carbonation in the high rank. Lighter body promotes that this is meant to be gulped, yet everything in flavor and fervor says otherwise. If you like that dry hop burn, this is your ale.

Served on tap at mad max in a 22 oz pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a hazy orange-amber color with a one finger pure white head. The head fades rather rapidly, leaving a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is rather light overall. It consists of some biscuit malt as well as a little bit of citrus. The citrus is a mix of lemon and grapefruit with a tiny hint of orange sweetness.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter and maltier taste backed by some grapefruit hop flavors. The malt taste is a mix of biscuit and bread with the sweeter flavors being of a caramel nature upfront. While the sweetness is of caramel at first it later changes to a more tangerine and orange sweetness with these flavors starting out weaker in the middle of the taste and growing stronger to the end. The grapefruit that was present upfront remains relatively strong throughout the taste with it growing more intense ever so slightly at the end. While the grapefruit grows more intense so too comes some flavors of a pine hop which in the end when combined with the sweeter tangerine and more resinous grapefruit hop tastes to in the end leave a bitter resinous hopped but lightly sweetened citrus flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is above average in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. Both are rather fitting for the style giving a nice body to support the hop yet being nicely carbonated to maintain refreshment and a good drinkability.
Overall – A rather tasty brew, but not really all that different from the original. It may be a little more fruity and more resinous at the end due to the extra grapefruit and pine hop flavors, but beyond that not too too different.

Boulder Beer : Mad Mojo
Notes: Brewed specifically for Mad Mex restaurants, dry hopped with Amarillo hops.
LOOK: Clear bright copper colored brew, soapy white head forms and laces the glass well. Poured into a 22oz glass, this beer was a welcome sight.
SMELL: Citrus, namely grapefruit and orange, and a faint malty sweetness.
TASTE/FEEL: Bitter and resinous flavors upfront, as well as citrus and sweet pale malts. Mild hoppy astringency, along with earthy, almost zesty flavors. Little hint of alcohol or flavors other than hops, which is hardly a complaint. Mad Mojo is medium bodied, well carbonated and is sporting a sharp, drying finish.
OVERALL: Solid, slightly hoppier version of the mojo. $5 for a 22oz? SURE. Hopefully this can be more than a one-and-done.
