Tasted again by half-pint at the Oakdale Arms, during its Easter Beer Festival, mid-April 2006. Gravity dispensed.
A: pale amber hue, coming without any beer head and low in carbonation--looking so normal, a dangerous camouflage for its real power...
S: orange-blossom fragrance and honey-ish note, as well as densely malty but easy to manage on the nose; followed by a sour-sweet fruity aroma like starfruits, with but a little hoppy entry. Overall, very dense, but not too heavy.
T: fruity and juicy malts abound, quite sour-sweet, a little like honey-drink; smooth on the mouthfeel but a bit thin; a fruity aftertaste keeps the palate going, finished interestingly dryish with, still, very little hoppyness and bitterness.
M&D: besides the smooth mouthfeel, it does get slightly "warming" down the throat, but the alc. doesn't show initially on the palate. Somehow, it's not as interesting nor complex as the first time I tried it on cask, maybe due to slightly higher temp. at which it's served this time, or the freshness issue. But still, this is a super-easy-drinking barley wine. Beware of the kickback, it's quite powerful if one's palate is off guard~~

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
