Served in a shaker pint glass at the brewpub.
Despite its name, this was described to me as being a beefed-up chocolate bock. It pours a dark, ruby-tinted black-brown topped by a finger of dusty cream foam. The nose comprises light maple syrup, light roasted malts, cola, mild dark chocolate, and, in the back, something akin to clove. It's all good, but kinda meek. The taste holds notes of cola, dark chocolate (richer than before), light roasted malts, black pepper, and a small undercurrent of acidic coffee and black cherry. The body is a straight medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry-ish finish. Overall, a pretty nice brew, one that I could see enjoying pretty often, but the flavors and smells are all pretty muted, much to the detriment of the overall experience.
