A 500ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2015, so it's a bit out of date. Purchased a while back from Trembling Madness in York. Described as a hoppy brown ale, this is brewed in collaboration with Reverend & the Makers (though what input the band have goes unexplained).
A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear coppery-brown hue with plentiful carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy off-white foam with excellent retention; this slowly reduces to a thick surface layer. Some lacing.
S: Aroma of sweet caramel malt with hints of toffee, mild brown sugar, subtle toasted grain, ale yeast, a twinge of dried fruit and faint stewed leaves. Some delicate vanilla overtones. Not bad.
T: Tastes of sweet malt with a subdued bitter finish. Notes of caramel/toffee, toasted grain, barley sugar, ale yeast esters, mild earthiness, subtle dried fruit, a hint of pine and faint stewed leaves. Slightly sweet, followed by a restrained, leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with prickly carbonation and a rather insubstantial body. Could do with being a tad creamier. Lightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of caramel malt, barley sugar, mild ale yeast and faint stewed leaves.
O: It's alright, though perhaps a bit run-of-the-mill by Thornbridge standards. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are predominantly maltly and sweet with hints of ale yeast and faint hops. Subpar body; would benefit from beefing up. Given the age of the bottle it is possible that the hop character has faded somewhat. However, it goes down willingly enough - a decent example of the style.

Bottled and like all Thornbridge bottles not bottle conditioned but a bright ale

500ml bottle bought from GapWines, Belfast
Poured a burnt orange / mahogany colour. Light mocha head poured quite thick then faded quickly to good one finger coating... some light carbonation bubbles drift to the surface... lots of sticky lacing cling throughout...
Aroma - Toasted bready malts mixed with nice dark fruits (raisins, figs, some blackcurrents), honey, light citrusy hops, some pine, molasses sweetness, toasted nuts, quite peppery and grassy, nutmeg spiciness...
Taste - Toasted bready malts, some quite tart fruitiness (figs, pears), some saltiness, quite nutty, light brown sugar sweetness, molasses, floral honey, good peppery and citrusy hop bitterness, grassy, some toffee...
eel - Quite smooth and creamy... Medium bodied... A very drinkable brew...
Overall - A pretty standard but good brown ale... certainly worth a try...

Lots of rock bands keep "making" their own beers, apparently this is the second Thornbridge/Reverend & The Makers collab. Never heard of the band, but now i actually like them. But now the beer:
Amber/mahogany pour, one finger foamy light beige fluffy head.
Nice brown sugar smell, breadiness, toffee, faint chestnuts, fruity hops.
Nice hops in the taste, but also decent malts. Caramel malts, toasted biscuits, with great floral honey notes, and the hops bring lots of nice citrus (lime, faint tangerines), with grapefruit especially clear. A big earthy feel to it, woody too, with faint nuts. Greener notes in the finish, faint pine, nice bitter hoppiness.
Medium carbonation, almost smooth body, dry and bitter but not off-putting.
Surprisingly good and refreshing, maybe a bit hop-centered, but it works.
