On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, as Thornbridge Bear State. Golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of fruity hops, marmalade, spruce and dust. Hoppy flavour, some grapefruit and pine needles, light bodied for its strength, distinct bitterness.

Clear golden color with off-white head. Aroma is juicy and fruity with overripe peach, apricot and even a bit of banana. Taste starts fruity and balanced but gets bitter on the finish with earthy, resiny flavors. Medium body and carbonation. Indeed, it's a true west coast style IPA, a really good one.

Pours a burnt-orange colour. Aromas of floral and citrus hops dominate the nose with hints of sweet malts. Sweet malts and citrus hop taste. Bitter aftertaste, intense, yet refreshing and drinkable.

A: Hazy, pale orange with a small head that recedes rapidly. Minimal lacing. No carbonation.
S: Resin, citrus. Very prominent.
T: Lots of resin. Lasting, spicey aftertaste.
M: Drying mouthfeel. Quite oily. Minimal carbonation. Relatively high ABV is not overt, which could cause problems if a quick pint becomes three or four.
O: The label promises a massively hoppy beer, and this is certainly hop-forward. But it's highly drinkable nonetheless.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2016. Picked up a little while back from Trembling Madness in York. The label describes it as a West Coast IPA with an intensely citrus hop character.
A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. A golden-amber hue with plentiful floating sediment and good carbonation. The sediment looks like precipitated protein to me. Produces a massive head of creamy white foam that lasts for a while before subsiding to a persistent surface layer. Nice lacing.
S: Aroma of sharp, fruity hops with hints of grapefruit, lime, peel, citrus, subtle tropical fruit, mild white grape, caramel malt, ale yeast and stewed hops. Tasty, though not as intense as expected.
T: Tastes of spicy, fruity hops with a muscular bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, white grape, mild tropical fruit, a hint of spice, light grass/hay, caramel malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a powerful, hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Hop oils tantalise the palate. Pretty astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, intense citrus, earthy yeast and mild malt.
O: A solid IPA that packs a punch. Looks good (despite the sediment), while the aroma and flavour are a mix of fruity citrus hops and understated malt. Nice body. A good beer but I can't help feeling that it doesn't quite meet the expectations of a West Coast IPA. The hop aroma seems underpowered and muted in the flavour as well. However, it remains a very drinkable brew; worth sampling if you come across it.

Yields a pale yellow color, with a decent, froth head.
Has aromas of ripe exotic fruits, as well as sweet, biscuity malts, topped of by lemon peel. The nose got a certain dank aspect to it, giving the hops a bit more punch, separating them from the sweet malts.
Exhibits a smooth, metallic carbonated mouthfeel, and packs a juicy, crisp hop bitterness, revealing itself during the beers finish.
Tastes of juicy orange, balanced by bread, together with refreshing lime. Features a well compounded hop bitterness, blending into the lemon infused, cakey malts. During its finish, this beer begins to shine, as it features a gentle blend between luscious fruits, and a bread grounded malt sweetness, resulting in a slick lemony bitterness.
This is a very tropical interpretation of an west coast ipa, bursting with fruits, absorbed by biscuity malts. The malts do turn a tad too sweet, shrouding the great hop profile, while the flavors do turn hoppier during the finish, due to tart lemons.
