It's good that sours can get on the shelf of Jack's: a super economy supermarket in UK run by Tesco. At £1.59 for a 330ml bottle, it is not bad. I have had only one sourish beer before and that was a Belgium lambic and that was unusual but good. That one is tart...very tart....like searching furiously for a proton-pump inhibitor tart. Just too tart for me as it seems a bit overpowering but it is a style I am just not used to and it is nice to have options. It's says 'Bakewell' and I am hallucinating raspberries and almond but there are no such ingredients. Interesting.

Tasted before reading the lable...
L- Very pale yellow, thin white head of a few mm, soon clearing to lacing, and before I reach the bottom of the glass, any trace of head/lacing is long gone.
S- There is a quite harsh scent to it, maybe sour apple?
T- O-M-T-G! 1st gulp of beer today and I was writhing there, and I'm still coughing, THAT is sour! My palate adjusts somewhat on subsequent mouthfulls.
F- Like *extremely* dry cider, in looks, smell, taste and feel, but additionally acidic with it.
O- Hard to identify much if anything beer-like about this one; it's more like a pungent apple/grapefruit soda. Perhaps the equivalent of a contemporary hipster-gauntlet being thrown down 'So there you bearded cad, I challenge you to drink a sourer beer than I am'. It must be a generational thing, as I can't imagine anyone who honestly relishes this kind of beer profile.
Bought from Tesco, Market Square, Norwich. Curiously enough this supermarket had several contemporary style (hops-forward/modern) beers that I have seen nowhere else in the south-east, including London. BB 21/03/20. 330ml bottle.

Thornbridge / The Wild Beer Co. Tart | Thornbridge Brewery
*Disclaimer - I don't like sours*
L2.5 - no head, appletister colour
S3.75 - dark fruits, subtle nose
T3.5 - sour of course, but some other flavours coming through actually balanced it out a bit. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a Thornbridge fan, but I actually quite enjoyed this.
F4
O3.5 - best sour I've had. Wouldn't buy again though or recommend to a friend.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of May 2018. Purchased a while back from Tesco. The label describes it as a Bakewell sour with a tart, citrussy character. Hopped with Galaxy.
A: Poured into a tulip. Bottle conditioned. A hazy golden-amber hue with fine suspended sediment and low carbonation. Produces a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a moment or so before collapsing and dissipating.
S: Aroma of sharp fruity notes with hints of tart berries, citrus, peel, lactic acid, earthiness, vague yeast and subtle pale malt. Rather nice.
T: Tastes of tart fruitiness with notes of sour berries, citrus, light peel, lactic acid, tart apples, earthiness and faint yeast. Very dry, with no bitterness to speak of.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and bone-dry, with very soft carbonation and decent body. Highly astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of lactic sourness, mild citrus, fruity notes and earthiness.
O: Pretty good, though not a world-beater. Looks OK - shame about the carbonation and head retention. Aroma and flavour are seriously sour with notes of berries, citrus, lactic acid and earthiness. Decent body but could be more textured. When I first saw the label I thought it might have fruit in it (Bakewell tart), but it does just fine without. Sharp and refreshing, it goes down easily enough - just wants a tad more fizz. Worth sampling.

This beer has evolved since the original collaboration with Wild Beer Co in 2015. It has been toned down considerably and is now much more easy-drinking. I’ve updated my review accordingly.
330ml bottle.
L: Deep, rich gold colour with minimal carbonation and very little head. Looks like filtered apple juice.
S: Soft, gentle cider vinegar. Just a hint of sharpness. Plus floral & citrus hops.
T&F: Lots of grapefruit flavours. Sour, sharp & mouth-puckering up-front but quickly softens. Rich, rounded mouthfeel.
O: A lovely, approachable sour. Refreshing and very citrusy.

A sour beer novice but thought I'd give this one a try. Ratings reflect my ignorance of the style and lack of personal benchmarks to compare with.
330ml bottle poured into Teku glass.
An attractive mid yellow with small white head. Lots of carbonation. Nose immediately reminds me of lemon sherbet. In the mouth...........Tart is the right word. Mouth puckering citrus and not a lot else. I can't find any malt or hops in this. Found this quite difficult to drink at first; anything more than a tiny sip made me screw my face up. Took me 90 minutes to work through the bottle and the sourness actually got more bearable as the beer warmed a little. It was a struggle to finish and I guess that sours are one bandwagon that I personally won't be leaping aboard.
Cheers

Clear, golden, dark straw with relatively small head. Fruity smell with some soapiness. Tropical fruits dominate, with some lemon and citrus, relatively sweet on the nose. Sour tang on first taste, but not dramatically so, with the flavours developing towards the front of the mouth, followed by something of a brief sherbet fizz then a fairly dry, crisp finish with the tingle at the tip of the tongue remaining. Some lemon, with a touch of the soap on the nose, in the taste. After the first bite, the flavour tends towards a little bland, but this is my first sour beer so I haven't developed a taste for it yet. Interestingly, it is hard to notice much alcohol, despite the 6.0 abv. The lack of flavour and response at the back of the mouth is noticeable. I might review the ratings after further sour beers in case I am doing this an injustice and simply haven't developed the taste yet. I found it interesting at first but a touch bland as it went on. The smell promised more than the taste delivered for me. There are flavours in there that I associate with cider, but very mildly so. My tastes may not be attuned to them yet, but I found very little flavour in the drink beyond the first impact on each sip – very little after-taste and quite a watery feel.

Pours pale as expected with a medium head that left a few streaks of lace. Filtered, unfortunately. Nose is lightly lemon-tart, but there is an interesting balance with the galaxy hops. Bigger nose would be better. Taste is very simple and straightforward. Crisp, citrus tart but not sour, and not much else. Overall, a clean beer that would be good on a hot day, but not really enough flavor to make me come back.
