Copenhagen 19/10 2020. 44 cl can from Meny, Borups Alle, Frb. F. Red can in Thornbridge's usual design. Strange ornaments in the background.

Pours hazy, golden yellow with medium-sized white head. settles as lumpy, uneven layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the glass. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is intense with a sweet, malty odor mingling with citrus fruits and glue. Sweet malts and cardboard. Citrus and lime with chemical notes.

Light carbonation. slightly thin, oily, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is intense with a light sweetness followed by a fairly strong, sharp bitterness. Aftertaste is citric and bitter. Lingers for a while. Finish is dry.

Fairly light for a DIPA - but well-balanced and appropriately bitter. Could do without the glue.

look: four finger big bubbly white head, beer is a hazy amber colour, lots of rushing carbonation within the beer.

smell: lot of citrus fruit, orange and lemon, some mango, quite dank smelling, herbal, not much going on, not bad either.

taste: straight forward dipa reallt, light on the citrus fruit flavour, orange mango and pink grapefruit, orange pith, piney, really dominated by the big bitter hop flavours, quite bitter on the finish, bordering on metallic, once again, not bad, but not great.

feel: medium bodied, medium carbonation, slightly syrupy, a tonne of lingering bitterness on the finish, pretty refreshing although a somewhat heavy going beer.

overall: don’t really know where i’m at with this beer, on the one hand it seems a bit plain, but then again it is still reasonably enjoyable to drink, it’s worth a go i suppose,

Pours a slightly cloudy, deep golden amber coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and citrus fruit, with grapefruit standing out, as well as just a hint of pine. Taste follows the nose, with some biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and slightly floral, citrus hops dominating, with notes of grapefruit, tangerine and just a hint of pineapple and pine. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some citrus and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

A decent English IPA that is dominated by biscuity/caramel malt and slightly floral, citrus hops and finishes with a strong bitterness and some pine coming through in the aftertaste.

440ml can.
L: Hazy, honey colour with thick & creamy, long-lasting head.
S: Ripe mango.
T: Heavy, over-ripe, pineapple, mango & grapefruit. Moderately bitter with a long & dry finish. Boozy.
F: Smooth, rich & sticky mouthfeel.
O: Powerfully hopped, hugely alcoholic, only moderately bitter, tropical fruit DIPA. Dangerously drinkable.

440ml Can from Tesco supermarket (£3):
Clear & orange-amber in colour with a very nice, large white head that is quite foamy looking & sits just under two inches tall with great retention initially, leaving decent lacing on the sides of the glass too. Aroma wise it's quite a weak beer, particularly for a 7.4% offering with background citrus & grapefruit hops alongside a subtle tropical fruit aroma but I didn't get too much of anything really. The taste was a little better with some mango & citrus fruits showing as well as touch of peach but nothing jumped out at me here either, it was slightly more bitter at least though. Overall this one was somewhere around medium bodied, well carbonated but definitely much weaker than I double IPA should be & I had expected much better from both Thornbridge & Magic Rock; poor stuff I’m afraid & one to avoid for me.

L- Murky pale brown. Pours with 5mm white fine-bubble head reducing over time to lacing.
S- Distinct! I could smell it from 30-40Cm away when pouring it; prominent lychee and 'tropical fruits'. This suggests it's well hopped, we'll see.
T- Oh my, floral into pungently sour hops, and a hoppy-bitter grapefruit heavy finish.
F- Dry, sour, bitter, part-balanced by it's hefty 7.4% ABV.
O- As I told my wife when reading the lable and fearing the above, 'I learn almost as much by recognising what I don't like... but I keep an open mind, as I could of course be [pleasantly] surprised'. This beer is really not for me, it's over-floral/perfumed, over-hopped, and sour doesn't work for me either.
