Copenhagen 4/5 2021. 44 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Thornbridge's usual can design with ornamental drawings in pink with a light blue background.

Pours clear golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Settles as thin, almost transparent layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing to speak of.

Aroma is fairly intense and extremely fruity and fresh with bird of sweet tropical fruit mingling with fresh grape fruit. Peach and pineapple. Grapefruit and orange juice.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and a little bit watery. Lingers for a bit.

Quite intensely flavored Indian Pale Ale but the grapefruit juice actually works pretty well in this context.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pale golden colour, large white head. Aroma of grapefruit and fruity hops, also a hint of spruce. The flavour is dry, citric and very refreshing with notes of grapefruit, a hint of pine in the finish.

Pours a clear, golden amber coloration with a medium, foamy head and some bubbles clinging to the inside of the glass. Smells intensely of pink grapefruit in a really nice way, with some biscuity malt noticeable as well. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by a bittersweet and slightly sour pink grapefruit character, with some biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and light pineapple and pine also coming through. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some more pink grapefruit coming through in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

A rather nice grapefruit IPA with a distinct, tangy and bittersweet pink grapefruit character that does not feel overbearing though, being nicely balanced by some biscuity, caramel malt and slightly tropical, resinous hops.

440ml can direct from the brewery.
L: Slight haze, golden orange colour, streams of bubbles with a short-lived head but sheets of lacing.
S: Powerful, rich, grapefruit syrup.
T: Overripe pineapple & zesty yellow grapefruit with a hot, boozy finish.
F: Full bodied, oily mouth-coating and light carbonation. Very drying.
O: A hefty, alcoholic mouthful of citrus & sugar. A dangerous summer brew. Not as drinkable as the regular Halcyon but the grapefruit adds a sharper edge.
