"Best before 5/13/25"; drank 4/1/25 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque brown/black appearance.

An even pour yielded a nice tan head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lacing remained.

Fresh earth, mild peanut butter & faint blackberry notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Fresh earth & faint caramel flavors up front; mild blackberry & mineral water notes on the finish.

Earthy with mild sweetness. I'd have another.

Very mild - a black body with a brown foamy head, some smoke and coffee on the nose. Lots of coffee on the tongue, some herby bitterness towards the end. Disappointingly thin feel to it though.

Dark, almost black. Some light brown foam.
Smooth smell, chocolate. Delicate.
The taste, again, chocolately, with cocoa. Very smooth.
Light body, a bit ot come backing roastiness that balances it all.
Good.

bottle from Bakewell. Black with medium airy tan head soon thinning to thin froth. Aroma chocolate and brown bread. Taste lightly winey chocolate and fruit and dark toast and light leafy hop element. Some light sweetness with faint bitterness. Feel light and a bit lively and fizzy but with a light oily touch to add some body. Bottle says creamy but has only a very light hint of creaminess. Otherwise, body is fairly light and thin. good, not excellent.

L- Held up to a halogen it's very deep ruby, clear, pours with 3mm mid-tan head of fine bubbles which forms much lacing.
S- Coffee > cocoa > and some slightly smokey edge that reminds me of timber log cinders in a fireplace.
T- Coffee and straight into 'wood-smoke', both seem equally prominent now and if there is cocoa here perhaps it's being obscured. The flavour is deep and pungent enough that it's going to leave a foot-print on my palate for a while - I'd suggest maybe not trying to taste anything too $/delicate after this one... It has something of a dry lick into the finish, perhaps in part from high CO2 but there must be some bright hopping here too.
F- The front lable states 'Smooth creamy porter' but I disagree, I don't find it either smooth or creamy. Nothing 'wrong' with how it is, just that seems a mis-description according to *my* palate.
O- I'm unused to a porter being as hoppy/bright as this, I wonder if they had in mind pitching a porter with hop-levels that hipsters might be drawn to? As is I see this working better for me at a higher ABV%. It isn't objectionable, just I can't figure out quite what it's trying to be...
330ml bottle BB: 10/06/2021 Bought from BeersOfEurope/UK for home delivery.
ps. Now I see the back-lable claims it is 'decadently smooth' - not for me it isn't!!

330ml bottle.
L: Very dark brown, almost black, with red edging. Head is mocha coloured and leaves rings of lacing.
S: Cocoa & coffee. On the light side and quite short-lived.
T: Bitter, roasted coffee. Hint of sweetness in the finish.
F: Light body, medium carbonation, drying.
O: An easy-drinking porter with a charred malt flavour profile. Enjoyable, if not a stand-out.

P.S. What’s the difference between an English stout and a porter? Pretty much just the label.

Just a solid porter across the board. Nothing special, but very drinkable.
