L- Superfically black but ultra-dark ruby when held to a halogen light. Pours clear with a 2mm tan head. (ps lacing all the way down).
S- Big caramel and chocolate-milk.
T- Caramel, choco-milk, hints of smoke and charring.
F- I don't like sweet, nor do I enjoy obvious lactose/milkiness. The pleasant surprise is this one is waaay short of crossing either of those lines.
O- It's tasty, somewhat different, not OTT on any aspects that I notice. That said it should work better for born fans of black beers, there isn't quite enough of the more trad ale-like feel to sate my palate.
330ml can. £2 Bought from TremblingMadness/York as part of a pick-your-own mixed-case for home delivery. BB: 15/10/2021

330ml Can from Morrisons (£1.95):
Dark bodied bordering on black with a 1cm, foamy & tan coloured head holds steady & covers the surface well. It's malty on the nose with a sweet vanilla & caramel backing that has some lactose & cream in the background. There's a smoky aroma around the middle with milk chocolate & some sugars too. The taste is sweet with caramel, vanilla & milk chocolate to start, some sugars following on behind & maybe even a touch of toffee too. It's balanced & quite smooth with a medium body & soft carbonation; the nose was initially a little strong but settled well.

I do like me a milk stout. This one is red/black with mocha foam. It smells and tastes of rich & smoky, salted caramel. Very sweet with moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is on the light side but with sufficient spritz & dryness to keep it interesting. With lactose added, despite being marketed as an ice cream porter, this is a milk stout. It’s a novelty beer, but fun & enjoyable. A dessert beer, maybe, if that’s your bag.
