Bumpy Road is a collaboration with our lovely friends at Beak Brewery, one of whom inadvertently enjoyed a trip across a farmer’s field on the way to a local hostelry during his last visit to us. We decided to brew a special double IPA together, combining both our California ale yeast and their London Fog strain to create a beer greater than the sum of its parts. Bumpy Road pours a hazy yellow, exuding aromas of pineapple and passionfruit. The body is soft and pillowy with a hint of bitterness. On the palate there is a profusion of sweet fruit.

Copenhagen 22/5 2021. 44 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. White can in Thornbridge's usual design with blue ornaments. Beak has the bottom of the can with the guy lugging a huge yellow bottle around while reading a red pamphlet.
Pours unclear - almost hazy - golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Settles as a thin layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, fruity odor mingling with citric scents. Peach and pineapple. Hints of strawberry ice cream. Citrus and lime.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a somewhat stronger citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
Fine light DIPA with a sweet, pleasant note and a appropriately bitter flavor.

440 ml can, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 8.0%. Moderately hazy yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruits, hints of citrus and honey melon. Flavour again of pineapple, other tropical fruits and honey melon, also citrus. Not too sweet though. The bitterness is moderate to low.

S: Vegetal and musky.
T: Spicy lemon and pineapple. Light bitterness.
F: Medium body, light carbonation, drying finish.
O: A pleasant and enjoyable New England-style fruit bomb but completely underwhelming for an 8% DIPA.
