Collaboration with Brooklyn Brewery.
‘Brewing for Impact’ is the creation of Brooklyn Brewery’s multi-award winning Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver, and comes as he celebrates his 30th anniversary with the brewery. It has been created with Fonio, an ancient grain that has thrived in West Africa for over 5,000 years due to its drought resistance and ability to grow in nutrient-poor soil without fertilizers and pesticides. It supports soil regeneration, while providing a vital source of income for smallholder West African farms, which are predominantly female-led.
Malts: Fonio, Low Colour Maris Otter.
Hops: Huell Melon, Goldings, Citra.

500ml brown glass bottle. An ultra pale American-style pale ale. Went down ever so quickly but I can barely remember anything about it. Clean but not at all intense. I understand that use of the fonio grain is advantageous for communities in West Africa but, unfortunately, I’m not convinced, based on this example, that it’s a strong substitute for the normal barley.
