Reverend & The Makers Summer Ale

A 500ml bottle with a BB of August 2014. Picked up a little while back from Beeritz. The label mentions that this brew was produced in collaboration with a band member from Reverend & the Makers - a hoppy pale ale. The hop varieties used include Cascade, Amarillo, Galaxy and Fuggles.

Poured into a straight pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A hazy pale-gold hue with fine sediment and medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of intense floral hops with hints of pine, lime, citrus, tropical fruit, subtle white grape and grass/hay. Underpinned by light, grainy malt and earthy yeast. Very nice.

Tastes of fruity aromatic hops and earthy yeast, with a crisp, dry finish. Notes of mild pine, grapefruit, subtle peel, citrus, white grape, tropical fruit, grass/hay, earthy yeast, light malt and stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained, hop-laden bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and great body for the style. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity hops, leafy bitterness and earthy yeast.

A tasty brew - perfect for warm weather drinking. It looks lovely; shame the head doesn't last longer. The aroma and flavour are great, tons of fruity hops with a hint of pine and yeast. Good body. Nice and nicely done - a light style with complexity of character. Well worth sampling if you chance across it.

Reminiscent of some other Thornbirdge's ales: Jaipur (tropical touch from wheat, I suppose) and Chiron (pines). Lemon and grape's zest, moderate bitterness. Extremely foamy, pale as Bavarian Hell, but much more interesting in aromas and taste. Very drinkable and refreshing.

Definitely, Thornbridge is one of the most exciting breweries in England.

Picked this up at a great little beer store in Arlon, Belgium, Miorge Mihoublon. Clear golden-yellow pour with a quickly fading two finger foamy white head with minimal lacing. Huge perfumey, floral, citrus nose with lots of lemon along with hints of grass, tangerine, and what has to be Nelson Sauvin hops. The taste follows suit with huge perfumey lemon up front along with hints of tangerine, caramel, orange zest, grapefruit, and that signature Nelson Sauvin hop character. The mouthfeel is slightly oily, crisp and refreshing with medium carbonation, and a great tangy bitter hop finish. Overall, a great, hugely drinkable summer pale ale and another fine offering from Thornbridge.
