500 ml bottle, bought in London. ABV is 4.2%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Aroma of blackcurrants and blackcurrant leaves, a hint of toffee. . The flavour is medium dry with a slight fruitiness, which makes it quite drinkable. Decent hops in the finish, become sharpish in the aftertaste.

Very refreshing and smooth. Taste a little bit of metal and oak. Looks pretty when first poured but head disappears after 30 seconds. Smell is hoppy and citrus. Overall a pretty decent pale on a warm summer evening, but not spectacular.

From Costco. In Ikea's pint glass. After dinner. Very refreshing and sessionable, zesty, with a strong presence of tasty English hops, like in a bitter. Some citric notes.

From a 500ml bottle.
L: Dark golden colour. Moderate carbonation and a one finger white head that leaves rings of carbonation.
S: Indistinct, lightly malty nose. Could do with more of it.
T: Stewed hops dominate. Dry with sweetness and floral character very much in the background.
F: Medium body with some chewiness. Gassy.
O: Unusually dry golden ale. But pretty average overall.

Cocker Hoop takes its name from the brewery's location along the River Cocker but 'cock-a-hoop' is apparently British slang meaning "in a state of boastful elation". This blurred golden ale, however, doesn't look especially excited - it is entirely without bubbles or head.
Even with names like 'Cocker Hoop' British Pale Ales lack the sex appeal of their American counterparts. Whereas US beers tend to brim with all sorts of juicy citrus and/or piny resins, UK ones generally have more subdued bouquets. This one has the soft perfume of a flower shop.
Some of that floral hoppiness makes it onto the palate but it's subtle there too; tastes of fresh-cut grass and rose water are present but brief. For that matter so is the grainy and lightly honeyed cereal malt flavour. Characteristically hard water minerals wipe the tongue blank.
This isn't nearly as light-bodied as the 4.2% alcohol suggests. Too bad the extra weight doesn't equate to increased flavour - if I'm going to have a pint I want to feel like I've had more than just the calories. Starting your evening with this is the equivalent of filling up on the bread.
You'd expect something called Cocker Hoop to leave you satisfied but this "unashamedly cocky" pale ale has limp maltiness and flaccid hops. It falls inches short! OK, enough with the easy puns. Seriously though, at least in export form, the beer leaves much to be desired.

Poured into english pint.
Pours slightly hazy orange-golden beer with nice off-white head, moderate retention. Smell is as usually for Jennings not clean and not attractive, leaning to pale malts and stale hops. Flavour is simple - bready malts, some hops. Mediocrity is a diagnosis.
