Blackeye Stout pours a mostly black color with definite brown hues around the edge. Not the darkest beer Ive seen but well within the limits. The head retention is good with some hints of nitrogen but does dissipate over time but never completely disappears.
The smell has a distinct butterscotch candy smell to it. Sweet malt that isnt overpowering but still present. Not much on the hop selection.
The taste also is best described as butterscotch. Not as much candy flavor as the nose would indicate. The malt is more pronounced to give it a more beer essence. The malt is however not as dominate, as it has a somewhat watery texture. Not much on hops but there is a touch of citrus finish to it.
The body is light and seems a portion on the watered down side. Also there is a chalky taste at the end, although not as bad as some of the other Laughing H2O beers. Overall I think this is a easy to drink but limited tasting stout.
