A 500ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2018. Purchased a while back from Morrisons as part of their beer festival. The label describes it as a fruity pale ale hopped with three British varieties: Goldings, Admiral and Jester.
A: Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear amber colour with some light floating sediment and moderate carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Nice lacing.
S: Aroma of grainy malt with hints of barley sugar, leafy hops, grass/hay, fruity ale yeast and a twinge of earthiness. Nothing special.
T: Tastes of grainy malt with notes of barley sugar, leafiness, grass/hay, a hint of herbs, subtle earthiness and fruity ale yeast. Pretty dry, followed by a modest leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and decent body. Lightly astringent. Aftertaste of bitter leafy hops, vague herbs, grainy malt and ale yeast.
O: So-so, not brilliant. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a pedestrian blend of British hops underpinned by grain and ale yeast. Body is alright. Drinkable but forgettable - no need to seek it out.
