500mL bottle. BBE 10/2026.
Appearance: 4. Espresso brown with a light brown creamy head.
Smell: 2. Strong smell of coffee liqueur, muscovado sugar, caramel, fudge. Slightly artificial and unpleasant.
Taste: 4. Nowhere near as cloying or sweet as the nose suggests. Slight acidity with deep roasted malts, and some coffee notes at the end. Mild balancing burnt toast bitterness. Long bitter finish.
Feel: 3.75. Smooth with mild-moderate carbonation.
Overall: 3. A coffee flavoured stout with an overly strong smell but a surprisingly balanced flavour.

Good pour with a dark tan head that lingers & doesn't spritz.
The nose really sets this apart!
the smell is a very malty roasted caramel cocoa coffee.
Very smooth going down.
The mouth feel is simply rich -> not chewy or crisp but velvet smooth...
The aftertaste is not astringent. It is more sweet than bready & never really ends b/c the nose lingers on and on even after the glass is empty...
I had to go back to the store & grab another before I left the UK ... Wish we could get this in the states!

Bottle. Very dark chestnut with a thin light tan head.
Sweet smell of milk chocolate, Werther's Original and latte.
Tastes as above. Very lactose forward.
Mild carbonation with a medium body.
A little on the sweet side for me.

500 ml bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Dark brown to black colour, large off-white to beige head. Strong aroma of coffee, roast malts, caramel and toffee. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of roast malts and coffee, also caramel, treacle and toffee, but not too sweet. Moderate bittering hops in the finish.

Oh deary me...
5% BB: Apr/24 500ml bought from Asda.
L- Very dark chestnut (superficially black). 5mm pale tan fine-bubble head that holds up well. Looks good.
S- Pungent caramel/toffee, into coffee and the rich roundness of lactose.
T- Lactose on the front (and so in your face I involuntarily shuddered) into very prominent coffee and a dry finish.
F- A feel that is quite overidden by OTT taste. There is a dryness in the finish.
O- The first sip resembled a coffee milkshake. Nothing beer-like about it at all. My palate was soon after tranquilized into kiddy coffee milkshake submission. [Palate screams: 'Help help, I'm an adult with an adult tastes, can't I just have a simple to read espresso instead?']. I'd certainly not drink it again, quite frankly it was hard to accept as beer, at least a drink with any beer-like flavour...
Ingredients: Well they're vague, not a good sign. They are listed as including barley and wheat and 'natural flavourings'. [Cough cough]. Like coffee, lactose, etc, ???, who knows what ever they might be.
This is a very unusually negative review from me; I am conscious of that. But this is my honest feedback. I really struggle to understand how anyone could enjoy this beer.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
