First had: on tap at Iron Abbey, Horsham, PA
Poured a chestnut brown color, slightly hazy, with a small cap of off-white head that sank to a ringlet. Aroma was woody, nutty, notes of caramel malts and herbal hops. Not too impressive for something that's supposedly a DIPA. The taste was similar, pretty subdued, especially in the hop department; bready malts, caramel, herbal and leafy hop notes, but not very bright, fresh, or well-defined. As far as drinkability goes, it wasn't too bad, and the higher ABV was fairly muted. Overall not bad...as a pale ale maybe, but as a DIPA, it really doesn't stack up to other beers of the style.
