A very pale, mildly hopped session ale – brewed to an old Welsh style guide for a pale ale, and a firm favourite in our pubs.

A - A clear, golden body topped by a small head of white, scummy lace. Low retention and lace.

S - A strong, sweet malt aroma with a distinct honey note. Herbal hops in the background that blend well with the rich malt.

T - Dry but strongly malty character up front. Some musty and herbal hop notes in the middle with a graham cracker crust note. Finishes with more dry malt and a musty hop flavor as well as moderate bitterness.

M - Medium body, very low carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - Very nice, the malt character is excellent with a honey character that I don't normally associate with British beers. A nice balance of flavorful hops keeps the malt in check and makes for a sessionable beer.

fourth and final day of NERAX 2009

"brewed to an old welsh style of pale ale"

pale golden straw amber. almost clear, despite being the last pour from a stooped cask! sudsy ring. minimal splotches of lace.

toasted malt aroma with toffee note, almost caramel, with faint apple esters. light grassy hop. note of sulfur.

similar flavors, but ever so slightly watered down. mild to moderate bitterness. yeast hint in the finish. traces of hop still linger.

thin but smooth, with a faint flash of texture near the finish. mild carbonation has moments of prickliness.
