A 500ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2014. Picked up a while back from Trembling Madness in York. Described on the label as an American-style red ale.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A deep, hazy orange-amber hue with chunky floating sediment and light carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a while before settling as a patchy surface layer. Faint lacing. Aroma of fervently fruity hops with hints of white grape, lime, citrus, grass/hay, light spice, caramel malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Very nice.
Tastes of intensely aromatic hops with a powerful bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, peel, citrus, subtle pine resin, mild white grape, grass/hay, earthy yeast, faint caramel and stewed hops. Highly attenuated, followed by a strident, hoppy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and very dry, with mild carbonation and good body. The yeast coats the palate. Pretty astringent, with an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops and earthy yeast.
Rather good - I get the impression the flavour has faded slightly but it still goes down a treat. Looks decent, while the aroma is stuffed with fruity hop notes. The flavour is slightly more subdued; less fruit, more bitterness and yeast. Body is OK but a tad floury. More carbonation would be nice. A solid take on an American amber ale - worth a punt if you should come across it.
