This is ostensibly the same beer as Hawthorne’s Best Bitter only dry hopped with hops grown outside the Lucky Lab Brew Pub on 9th Ave. It is therefore only offered in limited supply shortly after the fall harvest. One might expect the 9th Ave. Harvest Ale to have similar taste dimensions to the Hawthorne Best Bitter. Surprisingly, this is not the case.

Where HBB is a classic English style session bitter, the 9th Ave. Harvest tastes astonishingly like iced tea. It’s quite remarkable actually. It tastes like the kind of mild dark tea that’s brewed with lemon. It is clear, English-bitter bronze, and delivers full stadium lace. Despite the dry hopping, the aroma is very faint.

I’ve honestly never had a beer that tasted quite like this. The taste is herbaceous though clean with a muted bittering element and robust body.
