Hadn't seen this before, and rightly so: the bartender at LL-Hawthorne mentioned he hadn't seen it for two years. A 20 oz. imperial pour with lunch today.
A: Copper penny gold/orange, something close too 'clear' without really being so. Plenty of slow-paced carbonation rises lazily. Modest head of whitish suds, extra-tight. Stumpy head, but mainly because LL servers like to pour right to the rim.
S: Sugary cereal, thick on the caramel and a little gummy.
T: Sweet, but not quite as blatant as the previous review lead on. A grainy fruit: dark fruit meeting scone, a grassy/herbed spice. Finishes with a mellowed bitter bite, a little on the medicinal/cough syrup side.
M: Crisp enough, smooth carbonation. Medium body, the subtle warmth of alcohol stalks.
D: Dangerously drinkable - I'll admit I'm a sucker for the well-made German-styled maltbomb. Very easy to drink, worth having several of...

Tasted on-tap 06/04/07 at the Lucky Labrador Bewpub in Portland, OR.
Bright golden in color with a moderate white head and nice slow carbonation. A sweet candy-like aroma and flavor that reminds me of Smarties... Sugar city. Medium-full bodied and smooth.
A strong fairly sweet Maibock that leans a bit sweet considering posted IBUs. See below.
Per LL Chalkboard: 7% ABV. 30 IBU.
