I had this at the new Hops Haven Brew Haus in Sheboygan, where Port Washington is now being brewed, This has a wonderful black malt and coffee taste enhanced by its flavorful nose. The head is typically thin but clings to the sides of the glass. Excellent smoothness punctuated by a slight hop finish.

Very dark ruby brown with a lovely brown head. It fades to a tan lacing fairly quickly.
We have now passed all the decent aspects of this beer...
Advice...pour it out now. Just look at it and dump it.
Pseudo-roasty malts on the nose. Light notes of mocha and chocolate. Uninspired and weak smelling. But wait...it gets worse...
Starts alright, taste-wise, with the java/mocha/chocolate hues showing up. All this is destroyed my a pus-like semi-sourness that shows up midway. Akin to licking scabs. It is faint, but everpresent. Horrifying. Rancid lacto-sourness rides into the finish.
Thin bodied, weak in the mouth. Ask the drain for a better description.
Only the second beer I've ever dumped out. And none too soon. It tricks the mouth with slight but ever-building atrocities. Decent on the first sip....unbearable by the 4th or 5th.
Good riddance.

Really getting that metallic, blood-like smell on the nose....the taste isn't bad though...sweet cocoa flavored.....pretty good taste...body is on the thin side of medium...pretty drinkable overall...not super complex, but a nice chocolatey taste...the more I drink, the thinner it feels though....very, very low hop load....definitely on the sweeter side for a porter....

This dark ruby brew throws out a minimal head that vanishes in no time. Nose is absent except for slight chocolate malt and hop bitterness. Taste is very average. Some notes of coffee and bittersweet chocolate dance around. But by no means is this a remarkable porter. All of the tastes just seem to be a little lighter than they should be. The brown ale I just had from Central Waters was much more tasty than this brew. The beer is about medium-full bodied and feels just a titch syrupy on the tongue. Definitely nothing bad about this beer, but on the flipside, nothing stands out either.
