A: Golden, clear, decent sized head which didn't hang around for too long.

S: Fruity Tettenanger style hoppy aroma.

T: Subtle malt, slightly fruity, understated but classy.

M: Medium body, crisp texture.

O: Everything anybody would want from a Helles, one to recommend.

Feeling a German Beer and at just $2.75 for the pounder is a no brainer. Pours a rather hazy yellow bubbles in the glass but I got just a 1/4 inch of foam that settles to a light ring. Smell is quite mild which seems nice semi sweet no aggressive hops just smells like a beer. Taste has a bit more bite in it slightly peppery and sourdough next hops mildly bitter followed by some sweet wheat grass notes. Body is pretty light and easy drink what I wanted. Overall a bit of strange flavors at least for me but they work to make a easy to drink brew.

these guys have a few with hell in the name, this maybe newly rebranded but the same beer as urtyp hell? never had either one until this, its delicious, snappy and crisp, without the middle sweetness that some of these do carry, to me its lighter and cleaner than most traditional examples of the style, and thats a nice place for it to be, so drinkable and refreshing, very well made, very old worldy, but also very fresh when i had it, which isnt always the case with the imports. just richer than yellow in my glass but not to golden depth, high white headed, clean looking, bubbly with tiny carbonation side but tons of it, and a biscuity pils-like nose that shows some breadiness and minerality together, grounded and earthy, and again, drier than many of its peers, with classic old world lager yeast character popping its german identity like double pastel american eagle collars in the early 2000s on some kid who peaked in 11th grade, but in a good way here of course. the flavor follows, bready and dry at the same time, hearty but clean, very light noble hops late, crisping, snappy and fast at the end, less body and richness than a lot of helles types have and it works in its favor here as this isnt devoid of character in any way at all. its fresh enough to not be dusty but still retain its old world grain essence, and there is a wet stone sort of property to this. lighter bodied, effervescent, and clean on the swallow. really nice take on the style and one of the best ive had from these guys, hope to see this around a little bit more, really class and good, excellent balance and lagering!

500 ml. can poured into a pint glass. The pour is clear and bright and offers a half inch of whitish foam. Aroma of lemony hops dominate initially, giving way to some slightly sweet malts and a bit of peppery spice.

Taste is pleasant and maybe even a touch full for the style with a bready citrus character and a full carbonation. Feel is somewhat full but does settle to a more typical bready character with some warming and lingers for a few seconds on the close. Overall a solid better than middle of the road offering that grows on me through the glass, will buy again....

Note: Best by 02/2026 so likely a newer canning code than other reviews. Likely a 12 or 15 month period from canning date.

33 cl bottle from Binny’s poured into a Bavarian Lodge pint tulip glass. Appropriate carbonation, lasting lacing. Excellent Hell for a hot summer night on the patio in Chicagoland. So good I’ll have another.

Light gold body, clear with dense carbonation; thick, white head, dense and sculpted, long-lasting. Very pleasant aroma; delicate malt grain and sweetness complemented with a very mild noble hop character. Fantastic taste; biscuit and cracker infused with a very mild honey-like note; very quiet hop bitterness presence. Medium body; coats the palate with soft and velvety qualities.

For what appears to be a four-year old beer, this is a tasty little thing. It certainly hits the general style characteristics while delivering appealing scents and flavor to the lucky beer drinker.

prefer this to many other Bavarian helles beers-particularly weihenstephaner- as it is not overly sweet and has some bitterness. hint of grain, honey, egg, flower. pretty good but their pils is preferable. 3.83
