On-tap at Deep Ellum for the Pre-Festival Throwdown- a special event featuring numerous rare European beers for The Festival happening this weekend. Served in a goblet. Not sure why this beer is titled as a belgian dark ale- on the menu it was called considered "a slightly sour and wild golden ale". According to the bar tender this is the first time it has been served in the U.S.

A- Appears a brownish golden, slightly hazy but translucent, with about 2 fingers of foamy white head with good retention. About average carbonation.

S- Oranges, a little bit of sour lemons, some grassy/hay notes mixed in. Definitely interesting and unique. About average aroma strength.

T- Citrus- orange, lemons, a tiny bit of grapefruit, etc. mixed with a tiny bit of grassy barnyard tastes.

M- Medium bodied, easy to drink, a little bit dry, average carbonation.

O- This was an interesting beer that I'm glad I had the experience to try. It was sort of a mix between a sour and a farmhouse. It had a nice balance between the grassy earthy tastes and the sour citrus orange/lemon tastes (more sour then you're typical citrusy beers). The tastes and aroma were unique and interesting and not bad, but definitely not my favorite- definitely dulls compared to the Lou Pepe Kriek I had also that night. Overall an interesting beer that I recommend trying if given the chance, but I probably wouldn't pay $9/12 ounce serving again.

BB 12-07. Wonderfull beige head and anorangeamber beercollor with fine haze. Nose shows mega Brettarome, sweety horse in flowery fields and wonderfull balance between the freshness of esters & spices and on the other hand the bretty arome.
Taste is less well balanced and its dry bretttaste isn't backed by great hoppiness as is in by example Orvall witch it is probably trying to imitate. Doesn't get there all the way though but with some good bitterness maybe soon this will be a great brew. Thinking this brewery just started gives me good hope and wants me to try more of this newcomber.
