Pours a rich earthy red colour, clear and fairly fizzy. Head is jaundiced beige, nice and dense with decent lace. Quite nice.
Smell is grainy, with slightly sour cereal notes and a touch of caramel. Some organic herbal notes giving mint and a whisper of bubblegum. Maybe slight POR creeping in and a weird seafood aroma late, but it's mostly just a cleaned-up malty nose.
Plenty of grain upfront on the palate with caramelised puffed rice and popcorn, before slightly herbal mid-palate, quite organic with some green tea and thyme notes. Malt gets a rich, almost roasty edge late in the piece which is nice and rounded, before the lighter cereal-type grain meets earthy hops on the finish. it unfortunate and cloying late; it's otherwise a nice, clean Vienna style, but the very back is a bit sweet.
Bit of fizz is noticeable on the tongue, bit of body but not enough; could have gone down smoother. That's what she said.
Decent beer; lots of flavour but could do with some smoothing out of the rough edges.
